Sonya Got Sick

I accidentally dropped my stunning, blogging buddy, Sonya a few months back and she has been unwell since then. I didn’t bring her to a computer doctor in spite of a few dents and a clinking noise inside her, she is still functioning anyway. But, when she started to collapse after a few minutes of starting up, I got worried. I did the necessary first aid by seeing to it that the battery is not empty. However, even after a few attempts of recovering her, she still continued to collapse. I almost cried. Thoughts of losing her and everything within her repeatedly played on my mind. I haven’t backed up my files! I hurriedly brought her to a computer doctor and asked him to do a surgery on her. When she was opened up, we saw that one of her fan blades was broken and a piece of it was trapped in between the blades, making it impossible for the fan to revolve, creating excess heat and thereby causing the collapse.

I was mighty glad the operation was successful and that Sonya is up about. I don't want to be careless this time as she not in perfect health now, so I immediately made a backup of my files. I bought an external hard drive for my backup files. I thought of using cloud storage as well but it seems I can't afford it yet. Cloud storage, by the way is the safest way to store important files and folders away from accidents that may happen like theft or hard drive failure. There are a few companies that offer cloud storage services in a minimal amount. You may check them out here.

Now, I have no worries about the sudden lost of my important files and precious memories. It really feels good to be always prepared. How about you? Have you backed up your files yet? Be sure you do and don't delay. We never know when these circumstances strike.

New Worries

Okay, I admit, I wasn't able to resist the temptation. I know I said I have nothing to worry if I have no credit cards at hand. But it is definitely hard to refuse the convenience a credit card can offer both offline and online. So I applied for a credit card without delay when a friend suggested and in less than a month I was able to reach the minimum spend amount to avail their welcome gift. Who wouldn't? My card is sparkling new and I was excited to use it with all my Christmas shopping and our Hong Kong trip.

Since I don’t have a fax machine at home to send to the bank the redemption form, I decided to use my husband’s fax machine at his office instead. His secretary's table was jam-packed with documents, a printer and an LCD monitor. On another table is another printer and a fax machine. Adjacent to the table is a stand-alone photocopier. I bet there are a lot of cables but I didn’t notice any, perhaps they were well hidden. Out of nowhere, while the secretary was faxing the document, I blurted out that she should ask his boss to get a multifunction printer. She asked me what was it and I happily told her that it is an all-in-one device that can print, scan, copy and fax with fewer cables and less space. Fuji Xerox offers a wide range of multifunction printers available in colour and black & white in different print speeds.

Before I departed, I graciously thanked the secretary and jokingly suggested to her I could use my credit card to purchase the multifunction printer.  But I know I wouldn't be smiling when I will receive my bill.  Well, just another thing for me to worry.

Hello 2012

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your holidays with your loved ones. I bet you, too, are worrying about those extra pounds you gained over the past few days. It doesn't matter. What's important is that we spent those "eating and drinking times" with our friends and loved ones, reminiscing the past, catching on each other's lives or by simply laughing at each others jokes over the dining table filled with hard to resist delectable dishes! So don't fret. Instead, treasure those fascinating times with them.

Just like everyone else, I made my usual long list of new year's resolution for this year which I hope I could all achieve by the end of the year. And because I truly miss blogging and of course, all of you, my virtual friends out there, I made a promise to get back to blogging the soonest time possible. So here I am now ticking/crashing out that personal goal off my list. Yipey! One down!


I just hope (for the nth time) that I would be able to continue this journey now that it seems I have to start from scratch. Good luck to me, then.

Anyways, I hope you, too, would be able to accomplish one by one the personal goals you made. Some may look impossible but with hard work and determination, we will surely attain them. Do enjoy life!
